“What is it about pickleball? Because people are going bananas [for the game]—they’re losing their minds,” Drew Barrymore asked recently on her daytime talk show. “They are relishing every second of pickleball,” her sidekick, Ross Mathews, chimed in. “It’s a big dill.”

Mathews explained the game—“ping-pong, and tennis, and badminton all…had a baby”—before the two tested their skills on the on-set court. Barrymore squared up against Mathews, and then gave her paddle to an audience member, who quickly figured out why the game has become such a big dill.
